Message of solidarity on the convening of the second session of the Permanent People’s Tribunal Session on the Philippines

We send our warmest greetings to the International Coordinating Secretariat on the occasion of the proceedings to convene the second session of the Permanent People’s Tribunal Session on the Philippines.

This is indeed a historic moment for all freedom-loving peoples of the world but especially for Filipinos as the crimes of the U.S.- backed Arroyo regime are brought before the bar of international scrutiny.

While we commit ourselves to intensify our efforts here in Canada to expose and oppose the regime, we hope the convening of the tribunal is another step towards the final downfall of the vicious and illegitimate regime.

We are confident that the tribunal will render a just verdict that will ultimately hasten the end of this regime as the first session did to Marcos.

We join you and other comrades throughout the world in wishing the Tribunal every success in its deliberations.

As a newly-formed national alliance of organizations and individuals who support the Filipino people’s struggle for their human rights in the context of their national and social liberation, we assure you of our unqualified support as you begin the difficult process of sifting through evidence and arriving at your decision.  After 25 years of solidarity work with the Filipino people, Canadians and Filipino-Canadians salute your courageous efforts and we look forward to the important work of the tribunal in the coming months.
